The North Alliance Territory Organization (N.A.T.O.) is an inter-city alliance representing cities predominantly in the North, as well as their colonies. Its purpose according to its charter is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means and enables members to consult and cooperate on defense and security-related issues to solve problems, build trust and, in the long run, prevent conflict.
History
N.A.T.O. was officially established on the 7th of April, 2022 with the creation of its charter and discord, with Cape Coral, Snowdonia and Valleyside becoming its first permanent members. Within the first two months, up to 10 member cities had joined the organization, some with observer status (non-voting members). This included a number of colonies and cities that are not located in the North.
On October 28th, 2022 the NTD became the first corporate member of the organization. with the goal of developing transport links across N.A.T.O. territory. This was celebrated further with Valleyside becoming the first city to connect to the HelloClan Railway Station. The Valleyside line was officially opened on the same day by Helloclan13 (~Tedde).
The organization also established a political party within the HelloMiners Player Senate for N.A.T.O. members that wanted to represent its interests.
Membership
The charter of N.A.T.O. lays out a specific set of membership levels, with other membership types being defined by resolution. Membership is decided by a vote of the full members.
- Founding members - The original signatories of the charter, which include Cape Coral, Snowdonia and Valleyside.
- Permanent members - Cities that have a permanent seat on the security council, with a veto on resolutions. To apply cities should have at least 1 million forsals in land value.
- Full members - Cities that have territory located in the North of the map.
- Observer members - Cities that do not have territory located in the North of the map and may be a colony of a full member.
- Corporate members - Organisations that provide services to N.A.T.O. or its members.
