Congress/Marriage Act 2024

The Marriage Act (S.2) is an act of Congress that governs how marriage ceremonies may be conducted.

A BILL

S.2. To Establish Marriages

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the HelloMiners Congress assembled,

Section 1. Short Title

This Act may be cited as the "Marriage Act".

Section 2. Definitions

(a) This bill defines "a marriage" as a union between two present and willing players.

Section 3. Eligibility

(a) Couples who wish to marry must apply in advance to the relevant government department or to a licensed celebrant.

(b) No player may marry if they are already married, unless that union is dissolved.

Section 4. Ceremonies

(a) A marriage must:

  • (i) be carried out by an approved celebrant;
  • (ii) take place in an approved venue;
  • (iii) be witnessed by at least one other player, separate to the celebrant and the couple;
  • (iv) consist of an exchange of vows;
  • (v) include a verbal contract of marriage.

(b) All parties listed in section 4 (a) must be present during the entirety of the ceremony.

Section 5. Registration

(a) It is the responsibility of the celebrant to provide a wedding certificate that includes:

  • (i) the date and place of the marriage;
  • (ii) the names of each player getting married;
  • (iii) the signature of each person present.

(b) Marriage celebrants must submit the original certificate to the relevant government department.

(c) A copy of marriage registration certificates, once signed by the celebrant, may be issued to the couple.

(d) The government will maintain a list of marriages and divorces.
